Today's Invasive Plant: Goutweed/Bishops Weed/Ground Elder/Snow on The Mountain
This plant is the bane of my existence when I have to remove it from garden beds. Because if you don't get every tiny piece of rhizome it will keep coming back.
It is HIGHLY Invasive and crowds out all native plants.
Round-up does NOT kill this stuff. I saw that first hand last year when someone used it to try and kill it. (I do not work in areas round up has been used either).
Laying down of cardboard, or black tarp, or landscaping cloth also does not work well to be rid of this plant. As it seems to thrive growing under till it reaches the edges & popping back out. (I saw that last year as well).
Honestly the only way to be rid of this stuff is to stay on top of pulling it up and getting as much of the roots and rhizomes as possible. And then planting in aggressive natives will help too. But it will take years of fighting back against this stuff. (Weekly weeding of it is highly recommended.)
Honestly I don't have good answers to this problem....but I do enjoy taking my anger out on digging it up and getting as much of it as possible.
Disposal recommendations: I'd probably burn it! But check with your county on disposal methods allowed in your area.
